Welcome to my online portfolio

I’m Hannah Brown, a photographer, graphic designer and writer in the central Kentucky region.

The first nine years of my career were spent primarily as a photographer. I started out in the west Michigan region freelancing for a variety of publications, including the Detroit Free Press, Lansing State Journal and the Battle Creek Enquirer.

In 2009 I accepted a full-time photographer position at The Natchez Democrat in Natchez, Miss. After almost two years in the deep south, I decided to make my way back north and took a photographer position at The State Journal in Frankfort, Ky.

I spent three years in the photographer position before deciding to gain experience in other aspects of the daily workings of a newspaper and took on the role of assistant news editor.

In this position, I was able to put my graphic design skills to work, help manage and oversee the reporter and photographer staff, write stories, manage the website and social media, and photograph.
